Grief

I can’t remember where I found it, but someone had a really good illustration of how grief works. They compared it to a ball bouncing around inside a box. On one of the inside walls of the box is a big button, and every time that ball hits that button, the grieving feelings happen. At first, the ball is pretty much the same size as the inside of the box and is constantly pushing against the button. Then the ball slowly starts to shrink until it can occasionally roll away from the button, but it still hits it a lot. Then less and less, until the ball is just something that bounces around inside the box and only rarely hits the button. The impact is still the same every time it hits the button, it just hits it less and less over time.
