While I am at work I always daydream about new intellectual pursuits, 52 weeks of classic films!, Hitchcock marathons!, Finally watching the Decalogue! Pearl Jam – Ten (August 27, 1991)

Not that I was necessarily a huge fan of grunge, but these two purchases represent the enormous influence of MTV during this era. These two bands were hyped greatly and mercilessly on MTV so naturally, these were amongst my first actual CD purchases. I’m pretty sure I may have purchased an odd cassette here or there, but this will definitely require more thought.

Also of great influence, The Source magazine – I would scour the shit out of this magazine for stuff that was off the beaten path.

One device to rule them all

“As much as I’d like to have a single device that does everything I need or want, it will probably never exist. As it stands, once I have the A2 my standard device loadout will consist of the A2 for videos, long haul MP3 usage and text reading, the Ditty for podcast listening, and my SDA for PDA types of things, which still leaves with me 3 devices (used to be Axim 30 for video/text reading, T610 cell and 4g iPod).”

That was posted back in November, 2006. Amazing that a little bit more than 6 months later that device came into being, namely the first iPhone. I personally didn’t own an iPhone until around the end of 2007, but it was definitely a life changing experience (I support hyperbole). Now almost 3 years later, I can still attest to the beauty of having one device that handles all of my needs – music, video, books!, internet… oh yeah, and a phone. So yeah, iPhones are cool.
